We are a local Scout Group in Moorabbin.
Moorabbin Air Scouts are the only remaining Air Scout Group in Victoria and one of three in Australia. We do all the things and activities that all Scout Groups do, but we focus our activities toward all things Aviation and Air!

Scouting has shaped the development of youth for more than 100 years. Scouts are in every part of our community and we are one of the biggest and most successful youth organisations in Australia and in the world.
The main aim of Scouting is to provide an adventurous, fun, challenging and inclusive program to youth everywhere which teaches life skills and leadership. With more than 17,000 youth members and 5,000 adult volunteers in Victoria alone, registration numbers are booming.
Another wonderful aspect of the program is that Scouts always work their hardest to provide support and service within their community. Participating in food drives, habitat revegetation projects, fundraising for charities such and first-aid volunteering at local events are just some of the places you might see Scouts doing their bit. Therefore playing a constructive role in society as responsible members of both their local and international communities.
Scouting is for everyone, and found everywhere, with more than 400 local Scout Groups across Victoria.

From participating in ANZAC Day services or citizenship ceremonies, or local environmental projects Scouts contribute literally millions of hours to help create a better world.
Scouting plays an important role in connecting people with the natural world, especially given the increasing separation of young people from the natural environment. With nearly 50% of the world’s population living in urban settings, it is important for Scouts to learn about plants, animals, conservation and the ‘bigger environmental picture’.
Scouts Australia provides fun youth development activities, building resilient and confident boys and girls aged 5 to 25 in the Joey Scout, Cub Scout, Scout, Venturer Scout and Rover Scout Sections. We also welcome adult volunteer Scout Leaders. Scouts has opportunities for the whole family to be involved. Everyone is welcome, and we value the diversity of our members. The 3rd Chelsea Air Scouts Group was formed in 1950 from the 7th Chelsea Scout group, for boys interested (then only being boys in the scout movements) in all aspects of aviation, yet desiring all that scouting had to offer in outdoor training and personal development.
In those early days the group enjoyed strong association with the RAAF, Schutts Flying School and a number of gliding clubs.
The previous hall was located on the corner of Scotch Parade and Catherine Avenue in Chelsea. This hall was acquired in 1958 through the department of the Interior, from the migrant center of Somers. It was placed on Chelsea Reserve in joint ownership with Chelsea Guide Company, who still shared ownership up until mid 2000’s.
As convenors of the steering committee for Air scouting in 1966, the Group helped lay the foundation for the present Air Activity section.
Scouts Australia has a few active Air Scout groups. Air Scouts Canberra is located in Deakin, Australian Capital Territory.[6] There are two Air Scouts Groups in Western Australia, Bullsbrook and Morley Groups. There is only one Air Scout Group in Victoria, 3rd Chelsea Air Scouts, located in the Melbourne bayside suburb of Chelsea.
The 4th World Scout Jamboree in 1933 was the first international gathering where Air Scouts were represented.
The Group remained at Chelsea Scotch Parade & Catherine Avenue until 2013. The building was deteriorating in its conditions & the facilities ageing.
In partnership between Scouts Australia - Victoria Branch, 3rd Chelsea Air scouts and Kingston City Council, the group was relocated to the new premises in the new Chelsea Activity Hub (previously known as Senior Citizens Center) in Showers Avenue, Chelsea.
The Group was provided with our own area & room with access to the main hall for the current two sections Cub Scouts and Scouts.
Our relationship with Kingston City Council & Chelsea Activity Hub staff has been exceptional and we continue to develop relationships with our local community.
In 2022, 3RD CHELSEA AIR Scouts relocated and was renamed to MOORABBIN AIR SCOUTS.
Our new location is 12 First Street, Moorabbin.
We share this site with Moorabbin Air Museum and other volunteer groups
As part of our re-emerging, we adopted a new scarf. The new scarf has all the colour of 3rd Chelsea Air Scout group in honour to its history and a new colour was incorporated to sifnify the future.
The group is continually looking forward to expanding to a full group incorporating all 5 sections in the future. Joey Scouts, Cub Scouts, Scouts, Venturer Scouts, Rovers Scouts.
This Victorian Air Scout Group turned 70 years old in 2020 and we are looking forward to keep contributing in the development of youth, contributing to the community of Kingston and soaring into the future...
